Bowen Island: election results and bylaw check

Official winners declared. Municipal planning review. Checked October 21, 2026.

The Bowen Firestarter · Governance · 2026-10-21 · updated 2026-10-22 · Bowen Island

Trustee election

Official winners declared. Andrew Leonard: 1,121 votes (declared elected); Judith Gedye: 900 votes (declared elected); Sue Ellen Fast: 732 votes; Alison Morse: 378 votes; Terry Cotter: 332 votes. The municipality declares Judith Gedye and Andrew Leonard elected as municipal trustees. Municipal trustees must also be elected mayor or councillor.[1][2]

Municipal planning review

Bowen’s municipality continues to publish its OCP update as a draft planning process. The published engagement page describes a draft plan and a completed spring engagement round; it is not an adoption record. We have not verified final adoption of a replacement OCP in this check.[3]

Other local votes

Bowen’s official municipal results also declare Andrew Leonard acclaimed as mayor. The declared councillors are Tim Hausch (1,426), Caroline Parker (1,322), Judith Gedye (1,294), Alex Jurgensen (1,146), Sue Ellen Fast (1,039) and Keith Davidson (961). Those are council offices; the separate municipal-trustee vote totals are shown above.[4]

The new term

The Trust says trustees will be sworn into office on November 12, followed by Council meetings on November 13 and 14. Current officeholders remain in office until the new term. The Council meeting will include elections for the Executive Committee and Conservancy Board positions.[5]

This is a dated public-record check, covering the local trust area and its associated islands. A preliminary count is not an official declaration; readings, approval and adoption are separate steps. Candidate vote totals are not a count of voters. Regional-district and school electoral boundaries differ from Trust-area boundaries; other offices are identified separately. This check is not a full re-audit of every bylaw.
