What is a structure on Bowen?
Bowen is already a town. It has a municipal council. Its land-use bylaw is Municipal Bylaw No. 57, not an Islands Trust local trust committee bylaw. The Trust still has a say in Bowen’s community plan.
What counts as a building
On Bowen, a building is a roofed structure at least 1.5 metres high. Two buildings joined by a covered walkway, not more than three metres apart, count as one building.

What counts as a structure
A structure is any construction installed on, supported by, or sunk into land or water. Construction lower than 0.6 metres does not count.
““STRUCTURE” means any construction installed on, supported by or sunk into land or water, but does not include construction less than 0.6 metres in height”
What Bowen does not allow
Bowen’s bylaw lists manufactured home parks, and campgrounds for recreational vehicles and trailer parks, among uses that are not allowed, except where the bylaw says otherwise.
